#HBCwhatsnext [in youth ministry]: 3 grow spiritual

[[warning: this one's a doozy today, folks.]]

these days, so many Christians' opinions surrounding the tough topics we're facing in today's world sound good and appear biblical, but straight up aren't. and if we don't know the Bible, we will get caught up in the traditional or mass opinion of our peer group. #preachingtothechoir

the goal of the Christian life is not to be traditional, but be scriptural.

thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
exodus 23:2

pretty sure my hashtag for the day is going to be #goddidntstutter

y'all, it's our job, our duty to ensure trumpeting an unbiblical viewpoint does not happen, at least not from our lips...for the lost world's sake....for our students' sake...and ultimately, for His sake. #readup

the Word of God will do the work when you believe it (with the Spirit).

...ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
i thessalonians 2:13b

consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
2 timothy 2:7

You will never grow as a believer without committing yourself to the Bible. [God's Word] has a supernatural ability to bring about spiritual growth. our summaries, interpretations, etc. have nothing on God's Word itself. it alone does the work...it'll even change your personality by giving you the mind of Christ.

your best medication is meditation.

#ijustgaveyoutheanswer

in yoga, hindu meditation consists of emptying your mind and admitting the divine, by accepting whatever demonic spirits want to put into your head. but in the Bible, meditation is thought-digestion: "thy testimonies are my meditation" (psalm 199:99). and that literally means memorization, y'all. nothing. less.

this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
joshua 1:8

meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
i timothy 4:15

seriously! #goddidntstutter y'all. i don't know what else to say. if you believe the Bible and you read this post, you literally have to reconcile this with your life on the daily now. #sorrynotsorry #preachingtothechoir

lay aside: * evil / being bad * craftiness, deceit, trickery, subtlety * feigned (faked) faith, deceit (again) * ill-will, jealousy (spite) * defamation -- just like a newborn babe, feast every day instead of fasting every day (i peter 2:1-3).

we are called to godly "grace, mercy & peace" (i peter 1:2 / 2 timothy 1:2 / titus 1:4 / 2 john 1:3). now get this: reading accepts God's grace. praying appeals to God's mercy. ministry administers God's peace.

time to read that Word...and put it into action!
